In Florida, in November, 1999, Mr. Block won what is believed to be the largest jury verdict in the history of the United States for any knee injury case, in Stebbins vs. Mitco Water Laboratories, Inc. There, Mr. Block won a jury verdict of $7,777,800.00. In the case of Thomas vs. S.E.L. Maduro, tried before a jury in 1995, Mr. Block served as co-counsel with noted trial lawyer, S. Perry Penland, and together they won a personal injury jury verdict of just under $14,000,000.00.
Mr. Block has extensive trial experience in business disputes, personal injury litigation, and criminal law. He has also been active as a Mediator, being certified by The Florida Supreme Court for all Civil Circuit Court disputes, and has special certification for Family Law disputes. He has argued cases on nation-wide television covered live by "Court TV", and has been a featured guest twice on "The Maury Povich Show," speaking about cases on which he served as trial counsel.
Rick Block primarily practices law out of his Jacksonville, Florida offices, however, he has been specially admitted to practice in states other than Florida. For instance, in May, 1999, in Decatur, Georgia (just outside Atlanta), Mr. Block won the landmark jury verdict in Masters vs. Talbott Recovery Center, in which $1.3 million in compensatory damages, and in addition, unspecified punitive damages were awarded to a Florida physician who was wrongfully forced to undergo treatment for alcoholism in a famous Georgia treatment center.

Daniel Iracki was born in Pittsburgh, PA and raised in Upper St. Clair. He graduated magna cum laude from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Art in Political Science. He played middle linebacker on Duquesne’s 2003 I-AA national championship football team.
Iracki obtain his J.D. in May 2007 from Florida Coastal School of Law. He was selected by his fellow students as the commencement speaker for his graduating class. Iracki earned a Book Award, the highest grade awarded in every class, on the topic of professional responsibility. He received a pro bono certificate for completing more than 400 hours of volunteer legal assistance in various capacities. He was a member of the Mock Trial team and competed in state and national competitions. While in law school he was selected as a law student member of the Chester Bedell Inn of Court, the Jacksonville chapter of the American Inns of Court. Mr. Iracki’s participation in the Inn allowed him to improve his advocacy skills and increase his awareness of professional and ethical issues. While a member of the Inn, he was able to speak with and learn from some of the most respected judges and lawyers in Jacksonville.
Mr. Iracki has tried numerous catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases with Mr. Block, including the notable trial of Donnell Byrd v. Murphy Oil, wherein Block and Iracki obtained a $5,461,000 verdict for Ms. Byrd on May 15, 2009.
Prior to joining the Law Offices of Eric S. Block, P.A., Iracki clerked at the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida in Jacksonville and worked for the U.S. Army JAG in Fort McPherson, Atlanta, Georgia. He also worked as a legal adviser at the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and interned with the FBI cold case homicide division in Washington, D.C. Before going to law school, Iracki graduated from the Police Academy in Pittsburgh.
Iracki is a member of the Florida Bar, the Jacksonville Bar Association, the American Association for Justice and the Florida Justice Association. Mr. Iracki currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Police Athletic League. |
